Form 6 recently embarked on a trip to the Imperial War Museum Duxford, immersing themselves in the world of Art and English studies centred around World War One. Nestled in the expansive grounds of the renowned former airfield from the First and Second World Wars, Duxford provided the perfect backdrop for them to explore. The hangars, housing an array of iconic aircraft, offered an opportunity for the children to observe and capture their essence on large sheets of paper.
This trip aimed to foster cross-curricular connections, aligning with our English curriculum where the children will delve into the works of Michael Morpurgo's 'Private Peaceful' and explore the poignant poetry of Siegfried Sassoon, Rupert Brook, and Wilfred Owen.
"Encouraging the pupils to immerse themselves in the exhibits, the trip allowed Form 6 to appreciate the muted colours, unique shapes, and captivating forms on display. They embraced the task, employing various artistic styles to document their observations which they will expand on with a range of media during their Art lessons back at school."
