We are thrilled to share the news that Ed Walker, an alumnus of SJCS, was awarded an MBE in the late Queen's Birthday Honours for his exceptional contributions in the field of homelessness. Ed's journey began in 2010 when he founded (HiA), a charity dedicated to addressing the plight of homelessness.
HiA's unique approach involves acquiring properties and collaborating with local churches to provide supported housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. Ed and his wife initially used their personal savings to purchase HiA's first property. Since then, the charity has made tremendous strides and has successfully housed an impressive 315 individuals. Ed's vision, combined with the support of the community, has undoubtedly made a significant impact on the lives of those who were once without a home. This recognition of Ed's efforts through the MBE is a testament to his outstanding commitment to tackling homelessness and creating positive change within society.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate this well-deserved achievement and wish Ed continued success in his endeavours to combat homelessness and improve the lives of vulnerable individuals.
