欧美自拍's Community Commemorates Remembrance Day 2024

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grown old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them. (For the Fallen)

On 11th November our 欧美自拍's community came together for heartfelt Remembrance Day services, honouring the sacrifices of those who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars and subsequent conflicts, so that we might live in peace.

Our Lay Chaplain, Dr Sarah Maxwell, conducted a brief service of prayer at Senior House, which was followed by a two-minute silence and the sounding of 'The Last Post' and 'Reveille' played by pupils.

Our school community gathered outdoors in the Senior House Piazza and in the playground at Byron House to commemorate all those who have fought, suffered, and lost their lives and freedoms in all past wars and those wars which continue today. Many of our pupils spent time last week engaged in learning projects which helped them discover more about the significance of Remembrance.

This solemn moment provided the pupils and staff with the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the armed forces and to express gratitude for the peace and freedoms we enjoy today.

We marked this important day across the school to commemorate those who have fallen with sincerity and respect. Heads were bowed as the trumpets sounded for our annual Act of Remembrance. Always marked on November 11th, Armistice Day commemorates the signing of the First World War - ending Armistice that came into effect on November 11th 1918.

We believe that by educating our young people about the past, we contribute to a more peaceful future. We want to help pupils understand the importance of Armistice Day and to instil a sense of respect and reflection.
